This discussion, moderated by Sara Angel, follows the release of the Art Canada Institute’s book Revision and Resistance: mistikôsiwak (Wooden Boat People) at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It will serve as the basis for a conversation about the enduring role of artist publications in documenting, examining, and recognizing an artist’s works, as well as in shaping art history. It will also address how Revision and Resistance is the only book to offer the behind-the-scenes story of Kent Monkman’s diptych mistikôsiwak (Wooden Boat People), two genre-defying paintings that have changed the conversation about art history.
Revision and Resistance: mistikôsiwak (Wooden Boat People) at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is available in bookstores or through the Art Canada Institute online store. Limited copies signed by Kent Monkman are available.
