The Canadian War Museum honours A.Y. Jackson

In September 2014, the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa will commemorate the centenary of the First World War with Transformations, an exhibit that will look into the work of Group of Seven painter A.Y. Jackson and Germany’s Otto Dix. Both artists fought on opposing sides in “the war to end all wars.” “They had both experienced in the trenches, at the front, what it was they were depicting,” says art historian Laura Brandon. “[With their work, we can] look across no-man’s land and see what happened to them before the war, during the war, and after the war.” Read the full article here and view all of the ACI’s free online art books here.
