ACI board director explores life of infamous forger William Firth MacGregor

In his latest article for the Literary Review of Canada, “Brush with Infamy,” Jon S. Dellandrea, vice-chair and secretary of the ACI Board of Directors, looks at the role of William Firth MacGregor in the most famous Canadian art fraud case of its time. In 1962, over thirty paintings by MacGregor were admitted into evidence, all falsely attributed to the artists Tom Thomson, A.Y. Jackson, J.E.H. MacDonald, J.W. Morrice, David Milne, and Arthur Lismer. To this day discoveries of MacGregor’s forgeries are still being made.
