Gathie Falk | Sources et ressources | L’Institut de l’art canadien

C’est en 1968, à l’âge de quarante ans, que Gathie Falk est reconnue par la critique à l’occasion de l’exposition Living Room, Environmental Sculpture and Prints (Salon, sculpture environnementale et estampes), présentée à la Douglas Gallery (plus tard renommée Ace Gallery) de Vancouver. Aujourd’hui, à plus de quatre-vingt-dix ans, elle continue d’exposer, présentant de nouveaux tableaux et remontant des œuvres antérieures. Elle a notamment fait l’objet de rétrospectives, en 1985 et en 2000, au Musée des beaux-arts de Vancouver, ainsi qu’en 2022, à la Collection McMichael d’art canadien de Kleinburg (Ontario). De nombreux articles et ouvrages ont été écrits sur son œuvre en sculpture céramique, en installation, en peinture et en art performance et, en 2018, elle a publié ses mémoires, Apples, etc., rédigées avec la critique d’art Robin Laurence. Falk est représentée par la Equinox Gallery de Vancouver et par la Michael Gibson Gallery de London (Ontario).
