In this aerial view of an interior space, students are seated across from each other writing words in both English and Inuktitut on large pieces of paper. Certain words repeatedly appear on different sheets, such as the title of the 1973 horror film The Exorcist and the name of its lead actress, Linda Blair—evidence of Ashoona’s fascination with horror films. A figure in the centre left is carrying her infant in the back of her amauti (mother’s parka) while a person in the upper right is wearing a shirt that reads “Love my school.” To confound this classroom scene, orange tongues and an elongated arm are bursting forth from a miniature globe in the lower right corner.
