One of Canada’s most internationally renowned artists and, in 2018, the first Inuit to win the prestigious Gershon Iskowitz Prize, Cape Dorset-based Shuvinai Ashoona’s drawings of fantastical beasts and imagined worlds challenge Southern stereotypes of what defines Northern art.
Nancy Campbell, curator of The Power Plant’s exhibition on Shuvinai Ashoona, Mapping Worlds, will discuss the process of researching and writing Shuvinai Ashoona: Life & Work—the first release of ACI’s new Canadian Art Library series.
After the talk Dr. Campbell will be present for a book signing.
