Land & Indigenous Worldviews
through the art of Norval Morrisseau
Grades 9 to 12
Anishinaabe artist Norval Morrisseau (1931–2007) is considered by many to be the Mishomis, or grandfather, of contemporary Indigenous art in Canada. The exercises in this guide explore Indigenous worldviews about the land as represented in artworks by Norval Morrisseau and they ask students to reflect on their own relationships with land and communities.
